David Martínez-Robles

PhD in History from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2007), BA in Philosophy from Universitat de Barcelona (1996). He is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Arts and Humanities at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. He has been visiting lecturer at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, the Universitat de Barcelona and the Escola Superior de Comerç Internacional (Barcelona)

His research revolves around the study of the cultural factors involved in the actions of European Imperialism in China in the 19th and 20th centuries. Among other aspects, he has analyzed the processes which established the strategies for the construction of the knowledge of the Chinese Other, the narratives that histography has used to represent China, and the cultural negotiation involved in international relations in East Asia in that period.
